Jointly organised by FAIRsFAIR, with OntoCommons and FairSharing, the Workshop "Applying FAIR principles to open science and industry to drive innovation: challenges and opportunities" takes place on 22 September at 16:30 CEST, during the Open Science FAIR 2021.

The workshop is a meeting point with the Open Science community, and the opportunity for the participants to gather inputs and suggestions for implementing FAIR and Open Science/Data.

The workshop will address the needs and challenges encountered by teachers and trainers of research data management (RDM) and FAIR principles in higher education institutions, providing a platform for discussion and mutual learning. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their views and experiences and learn more from champion universities in Europe presenting their good practices in RDM and FAIR data training.

What does implementing the FAIR data principles in universities mean in reality? How can it be rolled out on the ground among researchers and students? What are the expectations of doing this in a diverse multi-disciplinary environment? To start to solve these challenges, we are holding a Book Sprint in June to develop a handbook for practical implementation of FAIR in curricula and need the help of experts in a series of collaborative Book Sprints in June 2021. 

FAIRsFAIR cordially invites providers of data services – and all other interested stakeholders - across the full range of scientific disciplines to participate in a workshop to validate and further develop our FAIR assessment framework for data services. The proposed framework is described in the recently published FAIRsFAIR Report on Basic Framework on FAIRness of Services and was introduced to the research community at a dedicated webinar.
