The University of Trento is among the first universities to adhere to the memorandum of understanding of the Italian Computing and Data Infrastructure (ICDI) together with the Bicocca of Milan and the Sissa of Trieste to contribute to the development of the European data strategy.

For years, the University of Trento has been committed to the dissemination of knowledge through Open Access to scientific publications. Implementing the principle of Open Access means giving the possibility to download and share the results of studies and research. The role that UniTrento can now play for the EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) is part of this path and the extensive experience gained in the sector: it will contribute to the development of a new data management strategy at European level.

The University of Trento has, in fact, joined the ICDI with a collaboration agreement that was recently signed by the rector of UniTrento. The promoter of the agreement is the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Trento and the contact person is Sandro Fiore, professor of Disi and FAIRsFAIR champion, who also participates in the Executive Board of ICDI together with Alberto Montresor, also professor of Disi.

"Through this agreement UniTrento has both the objective of contributing to the national strategic vision on computing and data infrastructures and the aim of providing a concrete contribution in the context of national and European definition activities of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC)."

- Director of Disi Paolo Giorgini -

"By participating in the ICDI table the University of Trento will contribute on three aspects of considerable interest to the University: the promotion of the vision on Open Science in the various contexts of innovation and research in which University is involved; knowledge and application of the principles of usability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability for the management of scientific data archives, as well as participation in the development of the European data strategy."

- Professor Sandro Fiore -
